What is the Beacon Educational Program?

Beacon provides the nation's most promising cosmetology students with the guidance to achieve maximum career success in the beauty industry. This program is the most exciting opportunity for currently enrolled cosmetology and esthetician students to get involved in the industry's most exciting events and to gain an early understanding of the business side of beauty.

As a future stylist, make-up artist, esthetician, salon/spa owner, educator, school owner, platform/editorial artist, beauty distributor, manufacturer and innovator in the professional beauty industry, Beacon is your opportunity to network and learn from some of the most iconic salon owners and managers in the industry today! As a Beacon student, you will attend some of the most celebrated industry events during PBA Beauty Week, including PBA Symposium, the North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA), and Cosmoprof North America, while benefiting from specially designed educational sessions to give you insight on resume writing and interviewing, what it takes to be an entrepreneur in the industry and much more.

"Beacon is hands down a life changing experience. I am so thankful to have been chosen as a winner for 2009's Beacon Program, as well as the trophy presenter for NAHA. While in Vegas I had the amazing opportunity to meet and chat with so many of industry's leading talent. Vivienne Mackinder, Robert Lobetta, Kris Sorbie, Heather Wenman, Sam Brocato, Ruth Roche and Geno Stampora is just a short list of the great people I met. Since Beacon, I have been a stylist for numerous photo shoots featured in Kris Sorbie's newsletter as well as Salon Today. Life is nothing short of a dream for me right now and I wish EVERYONE the best success in your careers to come!"

- Drew Noreen, 2009 Beacon Alumni and student at the Kohler Academy in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Beacon is produced by the Professional Beauty Association (PBA), a non-profit trade association. Led by industry volunteers, PBA represents the interests of the professional beauty industry from manufacturers and distributors to salons and spas. PBA started the Beacon program to help young salon/spa innovators gain an early understanding of the business side of the industry.

Thank you to all our 2010 sponsors for making this wonderful program possible!
