On Ocotober 18, the Professional Beauty Association welcomed to its team of professionals Tricia M. Spellman. Ms. Spellmam joins the PBA team as Associate Executive Director, Marketing and Communications.

Ms. Spellman  has more than 20 years of strategic marketing, market research, business development and public relations experience in both the for-profit and not-for-profit industries. Prior to joining PBA, Ms. Spellman was Founder and CEO of MIOD Inc., a strategic marketing and consulting firm, which served clients in the healthcare, technology, wellness and spa industries.

Prior to MIOD, Ms. Spellman led the strategic marketing efforts for Healthcare Information and Management System Society (HIMSS), the largest healthcare technology association in North America. Ms. Spellman was instrumental in leading strategic marketing efforts for HIMSS, which resulted in successfully expanding the company into three global markets; increasing its membership to more than 30,000 individual members and 470 corporate members; growing its annual conference and exhibition to the largest of its kind; and, launching five new product lines, including HIMSS distant education and virtual conference and exhibition. For her work at HIMSS, Ms. Spellman was recognized and awarded several times for her return on investment, creativity and strategic marketing efforts by the Business Marketing Association (BMA) and the Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals (AMCP).

With both a corporate and professional services background, Ms. Spellman brings unique insight and exceptional knowledge and skills to PBA.

Ms. Spellman is also a frequent and renowned speaker on strategic marketing trends/issues for the Association Forum, an association representing more than 47,000 association professionals. She received her BA from the University of Northern Iowa and has attended and received educational certificates from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
