October is National Domestic Violence and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. PBA is asking all members to join us in doing their part to enrich the lives of those in your community and in our great industry.
Never worry about numbers. Help one person at a time, and always start with the person nearest you.” ~Mother Teresa
Participate in PBA’s efforts to raise funds and awareness for three important charities dedicated to making a difference: Look Good… Feel Better, CUT IT OUT/Salons Against Domestic Abuse Fund, and the PBA | NCA Disaster Relief Fund.
CUT IT OUT/Salons Against Domestic Abuse
One of the most rewarding parts of being a beauty professional is having the privilege to be part of the lives our clients. To each and every person that sits in your chair or walks through the doors of your salon, you are a friend, confidante, and inspiration.
CUT IT OUT is dedicated to combating the epidemic of domestic abuse in communities across the U.S. by giving salon professionals the knowledge and resources to recognize the signs of abuse and safely refer clients to help.
The Power of Beauty to Help End Domestic Abuse
Take the CUT IT OUT pledge and get free posters to place in your salon’s bathroom and other resources to help those in need find help. Visit cutitout.org today.
Look Good… Feel Better
Look Good…Feel Better, a non-medical, brand-neutral public service program, is dedicated to improving the quality of life for people undergoing cancer treatment. Volunteers teach beauty techniques to patients to help them manage the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment.
Look Good… Feel Better is looking for volunteers across the country to donate their time and talents to making a difference in the lives of cancer patients. To learn more about the program and to sign up as a volunteer, visit lookgoodfeelbetter.org.
PBA | NCA Disaster Relief Fund
The Disaster Relief Fund was founded in 1955 to help beauty professionals rebuild their lives and businesses following the devastation of natural disaster.
The destruction caused by major flooding and hurricanes this year has left thousands of your colleagues in desperate need of funding to get their lives back on track. The Fund has already dispersed more than $25,000 in aid to beauty professionals across the South and Midwest, but more funding is needed.
