What motivates you to compete in NAHA? What would you share with other professionals about this opportunity?
“For me being motivated to compete in NAHA is easy, I love everything about doing photo shoots. If I were to share something with another beauty professional about this opportunity I would say do it! It is worth every ounce of energy you put into it. The journey is more important then the end result, you will learn to push yourself out of your comfort zone, which is where the magic happens.”
What do you look for in a creative team?
“Great attitudes, no divas! And please be funny and sarcastic because I love to have fun on set!”
What inspired your 2019 NAHA collection?
“I named the collection WHOLE. It was inspired by something I read and researched that hit me deeply. Ubuntu- I am because we are. We think of ourselves far too frequently as just individuals, separated from one another, whereas you are connected. What you do affects the whole world.”
What do you love about working in the beauty industry?
“What I love about our industry, where do I start? We are the one profession that cannot be replaced by technology. A computer can never take away our hands or hearts and what we do kn a daily basis is special. By designing a specifically tailored look, we are able to instill confidence and make people feel beautiful in their own skin. The kind of impact we make on people’s lives is, for me, the most gratifying part of my day to day behind the chair.”
What challenges and surprises did you encounter while creating your collection and what did you learn from the experience?
“With every shoot there is an obstacle. Time is often a challenge when you are working with 5 models. I didn’t want to rush the creative process, at the same time had to stay aware of time restraints. If models and the whole team work too long, everyone just starts to get burned out.”
