The North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA) Nail Professional of the Year category features a multitude of skills such as embellishments, nail art and salon nails demonstrating the excellence of the nail industry.
It’s not too late to catch these collections on stage at NAHA this Saturday, January 26th!
What inspired the style of your collection?
This year with the Royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and the Netflix series “The Crown,” our inspiration was drawn to Princess Margaret. We won in 2017 for the Nail Professional of the Year category, so we tried to enter in the makeup category in 2018. This year we entered into both. Princess Margaret was known for her racy images, so we wanted to portray a strong, classy, naughty woman.
How did you prepare for this year’s NAHA entry?
Just like NAHA, I am celebrating my work in the nail industry for the past 30 years! I have seen nail art bloom into a beautiful world of infinite possibilities. In the 90’s, I used to beg clients to paint a little flower on one of their nails. Now I’m booking 3-4 weeks in advance for my “Shaken and Stirred” mixed sparkle and glam nail art designs. I am immensely honored to be nominated as this year’s Nail Professional of the Year. Although this is my first submission to NAHA, I have been preparing for this moment for quite sometime.
What story are you telling through your collection?
That you can be completely masculine with your clothing and aesthetic but still have the most decadent and glamorous manicure to enhance your feminine… I feel you need both to balance it out.
