Here at the Professional Beauty Association (PBA) we’re always amazed by the ingenuity and innovative minds of our members. It’s always exciting to come across a product that is designed with the beauty professional in mind and also is made to facilitate day-to-day operations for business owners. Zeezor, the brainchild of Chris Nezda, was created to streamline the process of running busy salons. We had the opportunity to talk with Lizz Fortson, Zeezor’s Client Services Director, to learn move about this innovative app!
What is Zeezor?
In short, your new favorite app! ZeeZor frees salon owners and managers from their computers and reports, allowing them to focus on what and who are driving business. What would typically take hours of time and reams of paper, ZeeZor delivers in a clean, real-time dashboard to your smartphone. Stylists can see exactly where their service and retail sales, rebook percentages, retention rates and more are for the day, week, month and year. ZeeZor engages employees to compete against themselves by providing year-over-year comparisons supporting growth to new artists and veterans alike; but, growth without recognition is often short-lived. ZeeZor fosters communication between every stylist, manager, owner and even manufacturer. When I see a new stylist with an awesome rebook percentage, I can let them know right through the app how great they’re doing. The praise validates my team and lets them know I know how amazing they are!
We know ZeeZor has revolutionized the industry, but tell us a little more about when ZeeZor was just an idea?
Managing one salon location can be tough. Managing over 40 salons while trying to be a wife and mother was borderline insanity for Cindy, wife of the brains behind ZeeZor, Chris Nedza. After too many late nights watching his wife struggle to run a successful business, Chris conceptualized a mobile dashboard that could deliver key metrics directly from a point-of-sale system.
What is your favorite feature on the ZeeZor App?
COMMUNICATING WITH MY TEAM! I can be anywhere, anytime and chat with them about their business. Recognizing their strengths and identifying opportunities for growth is absolutely invaluable.
Why is employee engagement so important in a salon environment?
Stylists build hundreds of relationships from behind the chair. As owners, we understand the importance of those relationships and the “salon experience”, but what about OUR relationships with stylists? Successful businesses show us employee retention is important. Happy employees lead to longevity and ultimately success in our industry. As salons grow it becomes increasingly difficult to be present in every employee’s workday. Like any relationship, if one party feels neglected by the other, it won’t work. While I can’t physically be in every salon talking to every stylist every day, it’s vital I communicate with my team and make sure they know I am aware and appreciate their hard work.
What advice do you have for inspiring entrepreneurs in the industry?
Entrepreneurs must understand the importance of working ON their business. Artists and management will work IN your business. To achieve the most success, a leader must be able to transition from a technician’s mindset to one of a true entrepreneur. Lastly, remember business is about PRODUCT, PEOPLE and PROCESSES. Many salon owners focus the majority of their efforts on creating beauty (the PRODUCT), but often neglect the processes and people of their business (hint: this is not your clientele).
What can we expect from ZeeZor this upcoming year?
We are most excited about launching our in-app education! Beauty professionals will have access to exclusive educational content from leaders in our industry. Also, continuous growth of our network. We’re developing partnerships with leading manufacturers and point-of-sale companies so more beauty pros can utilize the tool.
What does being a PBA Member mean to you?
From its inception, ZeeZor was created to support the beauty professional. PBA’s dedication to not only supporting but enriching our industry makes being a member the perfect fit.
