Licensed Professionals show their talent and creativity

Scottsdale, AZ (May 31, 2018) –  The Professional Beauty Association is proud to announce the North American Hairstyling Awards are entering their 30th year of honoring the most talented and creative artists across the beauty industry. The NAHA entry process is open May 31st through September 13th, 2018. In 2019, the NAHA Celebration will be held at the International Salon & Spa Expo in Long Beach, CA on January 26, 2019.

NAHA is the most prestigious photographic beauty competition in North America with 15 distinct categories. Hair, barber, nails and makeup beauty professionals at all levels are encouraged to enter. NAHA offers categories ranging from Student and Newcomer to Master Hairstylist of the Year, an invitation only category where the best-of-the-best compete.

“The Professional Beauty Association is overjoyed to reach 30 years of bringing together the beauty industry to celebrate the extraordinary talent and creativity of artists through the North American Hairstyling Awards,” stated PBA Executive Director Steve Sleeper. “Moving to ISSE Long Beach will allow even more beauty professionals to be part of the North American Hairstyling Awards experience.”

NEW at NAHA 2019: We’re taking a second look at past entries! You can resubmit past NAHA collections if they comply with these rules:

  • Must submit a new 2019 release form
  • All photo usage rules still apply:
  1. Images may not be entered into any regional, national or international, photography-based competition until the 2019 finalists have been announced on December 2, 2018. This rule will be enforced with the maximum punishment being disqualification.
  2. Images may not be used for commercial purposed including digital, print or social (advertisements, posters, packaging, promotion, posts, etc.) until the 2019 finalists have been announced on December 2, 2018. Use of images in this way can hinder the blind judging process and may cause you to be disqualified.

Additional resources have been created to help entrants create their collection in 2019:

Printable Rules List: To help entrants make sure their creativity can be fully appreciated by judges, a new printable resource will be available providing rules across categories in a single, printable document.

Insiders Tips: Judges and Past Entrants have submitted tips for creating a winning entry.  These are available in a checklist form that can be downloaded and printed for ease-of-use
